Boring or busy

So either all of us have been very busy this week and couldn't write. Or we have had very boring weeks with nothing to write about....

My week has been full of meetings with basement waterproofers and landscapers. I guess that fits the bill for both busy and boring (surprisingly the mechanics of how water gets into your basement and how to get it out is very very uninteresting).

I also had a holy shit moment this week- we only have 14 weeks to go before the due date. Holy Shit!!

Holy shit is right! 14 weeks?!? AAAHHH!

As your house is much newer than ours, I feel like you shouldn't have water in your basement unless it's, like, a REAL flood situation. When I was reading up on how to "waterproof" OUR 107-year-old basement, I found out (interestingly) that oftentimes a little spring "seepage" is okay. Unless I'm willing to dig out around the foundation, tar the outer basement walls and install drainage tile (I'm not), there's no way to verifiably waterproof from the INSIDE. The interesting thing to me (See? Not boring at ALL!) is that stuff like the UGL waterproofing paint will keep water from seeping through...but it just TRAPS the water in the block walls, which eventually will make them erode & "melt" away. Not a good thing for a foundation!

Good to read from you...we've been missing you! Recent photo op, please??

I'd have to say I was in the "busy" camp this week. But, part of that busy-ness (as opposed to "business") was traveling up to Crystal Mountain resort to do a presentation for work. It was 60 and sunny and beautiful. Alas, I was there and back within 23 hours. But, it was a nice break from the office.

Also, I got to be silly and a big ham in front of a captive audience. One of the highlights of the presentation was promoting some upcoming regional conferences in May...I did a promo in the style of a Monster Truck Rally commercial. BE THERE! Very fun.

PS - HOLY SHIT! My friends are going to be grown-ups in 14 weeks (or so)!

PPS - Lisa, I'm right with you on closing out the semester. But, mine is more like "WOO-HOO!"

PPPS - Lisa, your profile picture is a bit disturbing.
